About ByRetsloff

Benjamin Retsloff

"I've never tried that before - so I'm sure I can do it..."

– a little childhood proverb... which nonetheless accurately describes my approach to both life and the challenges I encounter along the way.

For a long time, I've had a deep passion for exploring art, creativity, and innovative ideas both visually and in writing. Creating something unique and personal has always been at the center of my interests. For me, art is not just bound by specific methods or end goals, but rather a continuous process from concept to finished products. Each creative process brings new insights and surprises, not only professionally but also personally.

In my search for artistic identity, I have primarily focused on visual art, both traditional and digital.

For a long time, I believed that I should narrow down my interests to one niche, adapt, and fine-tune... choose one area that is "me" - but I have slowly realised that true growth comes from exploring the unknown and stepping outside of comfort zones. Therefore, my creations are not necessarily limited by tunnel vision; I make creations based on personal preferences and passions.

And who am I...? Just another one who simply finds it more fun "to play outside". Perhaps I'll never find a definitive identity, but... maybe... it's precisely in this search that I find the purpose of my dreams and goals within the universe of creativity.

... there must be a continuous drive towards self-improvement. Nothing is more rewarding than this constant journey.

  • Work Process: Art and Poster Prints

I base my work primarily on both analogue and digitally freehand-drawn sketches, as well as visual elements inspired by photographic material. I also prefer to explore both the simplified and colourful expressions in my works. In other words, my approach to creating unique creations is not necessarily guided by trends or norms, but rather by my personal preferences and passions. I utilize various treatment processes and approaches in my creative process, both physically and digitally. My primary tools include ink and paper, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator. In the final phase, I always digitize my sketches, after which they are processed and possibly colored before being sent for printing.

  • Vision:

My artistic vision is a journey through the unexplored landscape of creativity and self-development. As a self-taught artist, I strive to immerse myself in processes of experimentation, learning, and growth. I seek not only to create something unique but also to challenge conventions and express a unique voice through my creations. My vision is to inspire others to have the courage to explore their own creative journey and find the beauty in the unexpected and the authentic. By sharing my creations, I aim to create connections, evoke emotions, and contribute to a deeper understanding of creativity as well as human expression.
