In 1982, Sony launched the first commercially available CD player, known as the Sony CDP-101. When Dire Straits released their new album "Brothers in Arms" in 1985, the CD version outsold the cassette for the first time in music history. Shortly after, CD sales increased, and studios directed their attention to this development, making CDs a permanent part of the evolution of music-playing devices.
